Експлікація імпліцитності лексичних засобів у перекладі: компенсація втрат чи деформація

Abstract

У статті розглянуто засоби відтворення імпліцитності в перекладі, висвітлено теоретико-методологічні засади перекладацького аналізу зазначеної категорії, визначено методи та прийоми, які впливають на стратегії вербалізації імпліцитної інформації у вихідному тексті, акцентовано на комунікативно-прагматичних засобах перекладу у їх кореляції із соціокультурним контекстом, міжкультурною асиметрією, досвідом перекладача як двомовної / двокультурної особистості.

The article highlights means of implicity in translation, reveals theoretical and methodological principles of the translational analysis of the category in question as well as investigates methods and techniques that influence the strategy of verbalization of implicit information of the sourse text. All these are considered from the perspective of communicative and pragmatic means of translation in their correlation with sociocultural context, intercultural asymmetry and interpreter’s experience as a bilingual. The work reviews and abridges the basic achievements of the translation related sciences, such as: cognitive and communicative linguistics, theory of Implication, discourse analysis and others. It also defines functional features of implicity and their correlation at the dissimilar language levels and studies the phenomena of sense explicating and sense implicating within English and Ukrainian artistic translation. In addition, the author represents a comprehensive study of the category of implicitness illustrating the ideas suggested by the examples from the literary texts. The focal argument advanced in this research has been ultimately the notion whether the translation should be determined by the explicit meaning of a source text, and the anticipated meanings the author of the original puts forward should be rendered in the target language. It proves to be possible with regard to the methods used in handling explicit and implicit information contained in the text. Moreover, the new version that aapears should certainly preserve the maximum level of meanings equivalence. In doing so, it has been claimed that the resulting text would be authentic, faithful, dynamic, and unaffected. Still, further studies have reasoned for the hypothesis that the principal effect of implicit and explicit meanings becomes obvious but, at the same time, challenging to handle especially regarding a literary text. The latter is known to comprise implied meanings, which involve thoughtful and deep interpretation by covering the meanings that prove to be difficult to translate. In this regard, the issue that the authors of the original reliey on their own culture, appears seriously problematic in literary translation.
