Abstract

The article deals with the problem of investigation of the heavy metal pollution of road landscapes formed on the basis of the Kiev – Odessa highway; the previous experience of such researches by domestic and foreign scientists is analyzed, the characteristic of natural conditions of the Kiev – Odessa highway is given. Five local sections directly adjacent to the motorway have been identified and substantiated for detailed geochemical studies of the current state of road landscapes – the first is located in Kyiv (Kyiv region); a friend near the town of Bila Tserkva (Kyiv region); the third is located in Uman (Cherkasy region); the fourth near the Black Sea coast on the outskirts of the Hadzhibei estuary (Odessa region); five near the city of Odessa (Odessa region). Studies conducted on these sites have shown that zinc, lead, cadmium and copper are actively accumulating in the roads of the roads, the main source of their revenue is vehicle exhaust and road infrastructure. Soil samples were taken at a distance of 5.10.15 m from the motorway from a depth of 0-10 cm. Copper content in all local areas varies within normal limits. In general, the polluting effect of motor transport on road landscapes is considerable, which made it possible to distinguish four zones depending on the content of heavy metals in the soil cover: intensive pollution (0-5 m. From the lane of the road); medium pollution (5-10 m); light pollution (10-15 m) and relatively clean (more than 20 m from the motorway lane). Almost all heavy metals are within acceptable limits and do not exceed the MPC on the Kiev – Odessa highway, but there are heavy metals that have exceeded the MPC twice, namely zinc and cadmium. Anomalous areas in the study area were identified. Nowadays there is no state policy with legal, regulatory and economic regulation of the impact of the heavy metals on the environment and public health, the reduction of emissions of the heavy metals into the environment by vehicles, and the complete ban on the use of petrol containing heavy metals, which emphasizes the need for its continuation.
