Abstract
The paper considered the issue of economic activity’s influence on nature and the landscapes of river Trubizh basin; it is mentioned that this influence can be traced back to ancient times, it was diverse and intense. This made it possible to distinguish and substantiate eight stages of Trubizh basin economic exploration; to demonstrate that the human intervention process on natural landscapes was unequal by its influence, but it was incessant. The first exploration of the riverbed started during the late Paleolithic period, and the settlements emerged when Trypillian culture carriers arrived in the Left Bank area. Considerable changes in the landscape bodies of Trubizh river-valley could be observed when the Scythian nomads arrived. Active exploration intended for building happened during Kievan Rus era. The fact that the river was used for commerce is emphasized. The paper proved that the most active exploration of nature and the landscapes of river Trubizh basin has taken place during the last two centuries and was mainly caused by the reclamation operations aimed at draining. In the course of Trubizh riverbed and water meadow melioration natural landscapes were replaced by maninduced, and massive protective works were built alongside of Dnipro water front where river Trubizh meets it. The paper demonstrates the reasons and consequences of Trubizh double-acting irrigation system building. The influence of Kaniv hydroelectric power station on landscape bodies of the riverbed was considered. The consequences of pumping station and embankments construction were discovered. The paper reveals that the beginning of the 21st century is characterized by the decrease in services on irrigation grounds, which resulted in the recurrence of natural waterlogging. The prospects of landscape science studies lie in the investigations of the current state of melioration systems existent in Trubizh basin and their efficient use.
