Палац, що бачив імперії: загадки резиденції Потоцьких у Тульчині

Abstract

У статті досліджується історія, архітектура та культурне значення палацу Потоцьких у Тульчині – видатної пам’ятки раннього класицизму в Україні. Розглянуто етапи створення комплексу, участь архітектора Лакруа й дизайнера Ленро, а також подальші зміни палацу від часів Потоцьких до сучасності. Підкреслено роль маєтку в політичному та культурному житті, його реставрацію, сучасне використання й формування образу «українського Версаля».

The article examines the history, architectural features, and cultural significance of the Potocki Palace complex in Tulchyn – one of the most prominent monuments of early Classicism in Ukraine. It analyzes the process of the ensemble’s formation, the contribution of architect Lacroix and landscape designer Pierre Lenreux, as well as the transformations of the palace from the time of Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki to the present day. Special attention is paid to the role of the Tulchyn estate in the political life of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Russian Empire, particularly in connection with the activities of the Targowica Confederation. The article highlights the losses and restoration efforts of the complex during the 20th century, as well as the current state of the palace, which today serves as a cultural center of the region. It also explores the legends and myths associated with the residence, shaping its image as the “Ukrainian Versailles” and an important element of the national historical and cultural heritage
