Abstract

роботі досліджено феномен гейші в контексті соціальної, культурної та мистецької історії Японії XVII–XIX ст. Розглянуто процеси формування гейші як професійної групи, умови функціонування розважальних кварталів, особливості навчальних інститутів окейя та роль мистецьких шкіл у створенні стандартизованих виконавських практик. Висвітлено взаємозв’язок гейш із міським середовищем, зокрема з музично-танцювальними традиціями, керамічними й театральними школами, а також з інституціями меценатства. У другій частині проаналізовано рецепцію образу гейші в європейській культурі XIX ст., окреслено механізми виникнення спрощених уявлень та описано способи їх спростування через критичне залучення японських джерел. Практичний розділ присвячено методиці викладання східних культур у закладах вищої освіти. Застосовано принципи інтерактивності, інтердисциплінарності та роботи з візуальними матеріалами для формування в студентів навичок культурного аналізу та інтерпретації історичних текстівThis thesis investigates the geisha phenomenon within the broader social, cultural, and artistic history of early modern Japan. It analyzes the institutional development of the geisha profession, the organization of entertainment quarters, the functioning of okiya training houses, and the contribution of artistic schools to the formation of standardized performance traditions. The study highlights the interaction between geishas and the urban environment, including musical, dance, and theatrical traditions, as well as patronage structures. The research also examines nineteenth-century European representations of geishas, identifying the mechanisms behind the emergence of simplified or distorted perceptions. These interpretations are contrasted with Japanese historical sources, enabling a more accurate understanding of the cultural realities of the period. The methodological section outlines strategies for teaching Eastern cultural traditions in contemporary higher education, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, visual analysis, and techniques that foster students’ intercultural competence and analytical skills.
