Домінування православ’я в конфесійній політиці на Поділлі у хіх – на початку ХХ ст. (за матеріалами «Подольских епархиальных ведомостей»)

Abstract

У статті розглянуто окремі питання конфесійної політики на Поділлі у ХІХ – на початку ХХ ст. Процеси міжконфесійних і міжцерковних відносин можуть викликати ескалацію напруження на різних рівнях суспільно-політичного чи культурного життя. Акцентовано увагу на панівному становищі Російської православної церкви за самодержавства. Висвітлено аспекти дискримінації неправославних конфесій. Доволі виразно проявились суперечності між католицизмом, греко-католицизмом і православ’ям, а також між царським самодержавством і Православною церквою, з одного боку, та протестантськими деномінаціями і відгалуженнями – з іншого. Проілюстровано ці факти у публікаціях часопису «Подольских епархиальных ведомостей». У житті християнських конфесій Поділля релігійна політика російського царизму все-таки відігравала роль стримуючого, стимулюючого та регулюючого факторів

The intensive development of the church-religious sphere of life has caused many problems of the most diverse nature. Interconfessional relations in Ukraine constitute a significant part of the society’s socio-political life, important factors of which are the historical traditions of religious confessions’ coexistence. The aim of the article is to study the features of the transformation processes that took place in the life of Podillia’s Christian confessions in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It examines certain issues of Podillia’s confessional politics during the specified period. The processes of interconfessional and interchurch relations can cause an escalation of tension at different levels of sociopolitical or cultural life. The focus is on the dominant position of the Russian Orthodox Church during the autocracy. The aspects of discrimination against non-Orthodox confessions are highlighted. The contradictions between Catholicism, Greek Catholicism and Orthodoxy, as well as between the tsarist autocracy and the Orthodox Church, on the one hand, and Protestant denominations and branches, on the other, were quite clearly manifested. However, in the first place is the confrontation between the Uniates and the Orthodox, which manifested itself at the political, religious-social, socio-cultural and everyday levels. It is important to emphasize that the process of the final liquidation of the Greek Catholic Church, as well as Uniate culture, was carried out by the autocracy consistently and methodically. An important source of the topic under study is the ‘Podolskiie yeparkhialnyie vedomosti’.
